HUMANS AS AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR ECOSYSTEM
Humans are an essential part and a powerful force on this earth. The actions we take continually evolve and devolve this delicate network of interconnections. Our physical, emotional and psychological movements all have an immense impact on the way in which all the other life forces in the ecosystem relate to one another. The way in which we have disrupted the delicate balance of the ecosystems that sustain us has largely followed that of a mob like mentality, where the vast majority follow suit with the reckless decisions of a select few.
Thankfully, there has always been and always will be the exception to these ‘mobsters.’ There are some among us who realize that as a whole we are so much more than the sum of parts. When I refer to ‘whole’ I mean the integrity of human beings and the ecosystem at large which together creates an all new entity. It is much like how an orchestra brings together every musician to create something entirely new and different than the individual instruments of the players. When we act with the consideration of this whole we can foster harmony and sustainability in the world around us.
“Something indescribable happens when we work as a whole, live as a whole and love as a whole.”
Once we align with the whole, we can start to look at life through all of its different facets. We can begin to consider the lives of everything around us, including those of other mammals, birds, insects, plants, water, minerals and that of the earth. With this bigger picture in mind, we can better understand how every move we make has an impact on life around us. You are not insignificant in this network or too small to have an impact, you are in fact incredibly powerful, nay instrumental, in this symphony of life! It is your responsibility to look after it.
“This means you can’t buy mass produced or unconsidered fashion, interiors or toys without knowing the impact his has. Every decision you make becomes aligned to the power of your voice and how you use it.”
Nhat Hanh once said that “People normally cut reality into compartments and so are unable to see the interdependence of all phenomena. To see one in all and all in one is to break through the great barrier which narrows ones’ perception of reality”
Let’s become authentically human and become conscious of the interdependence to which Nhat Hanh refers. This will empower us to take actions that are on the side of life and love. If more of us wake up to this realisation, the faster the process will be. The most wonderful part of all this is that it is entirely possible. The Urban Farmer was created to provide you and me with an alternative to the status quo movement of the masses. The more stores that open to support this kind of lifestyle, the more we are able to step into alignment with life and love.
